Recorded in isolation, Black Interiors reveals an examination of the members of Black Spirituals as solo artists applying their crafts to specific circumstances, environments, locations. Together we offer you meta-praxical artwork that is completely new for us, and something we have rarely heard from other musicians.

This cd was compiled to support a four-city Black Spirituals East Coast tour in September 2015 culminating in a premiere performance at the Issue Project Room.

Tour Schedule “be like all” Baltimore at The Red Room September 18th with two deep brothers Jamal Moore and Luke Stewart of Ancestral Duo, September 19th in D.C. as part of the Sonic Circuits festival, Philly on September 20th with Nick Millevoi /Chris Forsyth Duo and lastly an evening length concert at Issue Project Room at The Stump in Queens New York on September 22nd.

It's good to see that Experimental Avant Garde music is not just a genre reserved for white people. This record is sensational, maybe the best album of 2018, and a great catalyst to send me on an "anything connected with Black Spirituals" hunt. The seeming scarcity of black avant garde music fascinates me though, especially when you consider Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler and the fact that John Coltrane released Ascension well over 50 years ago. Strange. I got a vinyl copy of the album as well. Gavin Hellyer

they picked the cotton that saved the world. that picked cotton propelled u.s. economy; a unique capitalist setup. (though anglo saxon colonizers are not unique.) so many pop stars and hip hop billboard mainstays trumpet u.s. capitalism ad nauseam; or escapism & distraction. "Don't Die," also powerful. "i don't believe they lies. don't believe their truth, need they heads for proof" -- that's direct and powerful. the violinist Saydah Ruz stands out here, i think. Jeremy Leaming
